The spacious entry hall provides a gracious space to welcome visitors. A marble bust of King Kalākaua watches over the entry hall today. On a trip to California, King Kalakaua acquired several redwood pillars. He used them as nonbearing decorative items in the entry hall. The pillars were faux painted to resemble koa at some later date. Portraits of various monarchs, King Kalākaua's writing desk and several pieces of koa furniture complete the furnishings of the entry hall. |
